TERANEX RELEASES NEW FILM PROCESSING APPLICATIONS
Orlando, FL. (Oct 28, 2005) - Teranex, a Division of Silicon Optix and leader in providing high performance solutions for the broadcast and post production market, today announced they will be showing three new software enhancements for the imageRestore Film Restoration product line at the 2005 SMPTE Technical Conference in New York City. The new enhancements include:
SD/HD Image Stabilization
SD/HD Secondary Color Correction
SD/HD Motion Compensated Dirt Concealment
This announcement re-affirms Teranex's full commitment to the telecine and image restoration market around the world and continues to add value for our customers that have invested in the Teranex Video Computer Platform. "Soon after I re-joined Teranex as a result of the Silicon Optix Merger, I travelled around the world to visit some of the major post production houses to discuss their specific needs," said Jed Deame, Co-founder and General Manager of Teranex. "We listened - and we are delivering on our promise to continue to advance the platform to meet customer needs with these three new applications."
SD/HD Image Stabilization enables real-time correction for camera shake and gate weave in both SD and HD using Phase Correlation. This Motion Compensated approach works well in both live production applications as well as in post-production to remove camera vibration and image instability.
SD/HD Secondary Color Correction enables real-time manipulation of specific color ranges via an intuitive color picker. This functionality further leverages the Teranex Platform into the color grading space, enabling scene-by-scene color touch-up without tying up the primary color grading resources.
Teranex's new SD/HD Motion Compensated Dirt Concealment application uses Phase Correlation to locate film dirt with a high degree of accuracy. This enables a much larger percentage of the dirt to be concealed in real-time, reducing and often eliminating the need for frame-by-frame correction by hand, significantly improving the efficiency of the workflow.
All of these application enhancements run on all of the latest 3RU and 6RU Video Computer Platforms. "Thanks to the power of the latest generation Teranex processing chips, we are now able to perform high definition motion compensation in real time," continued Deame. "This is a significant advance in the state of the art for film processing thanks to the power of these new platforms and the intelligence of the algorithms."
All three applications are currently in Beta testing with some of the world's leading post production houses. SD/HD Secondary Color Correction and SD/HD Motion Compensated Dirt Concealment will be shipping in December and SD/HD Image Stabilization will be shipping in January.
Teranex's fully programmable, trillions-of-operations-per-second video processing systems have been adopted by thousands of the most quality conscious broadcasters and post-production houses worldwide.
