Teranex XMR™ Modular Format Converter Is Now Shipping with Closed Caption Conversion

NAB 2007 North Hall, Booth N-2531

Orlando, Florida. (April 12th, 2007) – Teranex, a leader in high performance video processing solutions for the broadcast and post-production industries, is pleased to announce the availability of closed captioning in its XMR format converter family of products.

“As we transition from standard definition (SD) programming to high definition (HD), it becomes a challenge for broadcasters to preserve the captions. With the new XMR modular converter, SD and HD signals can be up, down or cross converted with the highest quality possible, preserving closed captioning in all format conversions,” said Jed Deame, Teranex Co-founder and General Manager. “Our XMR module now offers the best quality and the most competitively priced feature set in the industry.” continued Mr. Deame.

The XMR modular up/down/cross conversion boards bring legendary Teranex image processing quality to the Broadcasting world. The XMR card is packed with proprietary Teranex technology, like PixelMotionTM De-interlacing and Multi-Directional Diagonal Filtering (MDDFTM) algorithms, drastically reducing jaggies on diagonal lines, and Per-Pixel Temporal Recursive Noise Reduction algorithm, minimizing HD and SD video noise. FlexviewTM Aspect Ratio, a non-linear anamorphic aspect ratio designed for converting 4:3 material to 16:9, leaves the center portion of the image untouched, while providing increasing amounts of stretch towards the edges of the image. This high-quality converter family uses all of Teranex’s HQV Technology to yields exceptional image quality and reliability for the demanding Broadcaster.

XMRs handle just about any SDI broadcasting format at its input and outputs in either HD or SD formats. The XMR uses a Silicon Optix Realta™ image processing engine, reducing overall size while maximizing image processing capability.

Some of the XMR Format Converter features:

• Broadcast Quality Up/Down/Cross Conversion & Noise Reduction
• Full SD 608 & HD 708 Closed Captioning Support
• 8 Channels of Embedded Audio
• WSS & RP186 Aspect Ratio Control
• Control and Status via Standard Web Browser
• Silicon Optix Realta Engine Assures Field Updatability
